From The Artists

As part of our virtual programming for the 2020 season, we are posting information about upcoming concerts from some of the world’s best musicians, including our favorite performers from past festivals. Please check back for updated information.

Miró Quartet – Live Streaming July 16, 2020 – August 8, 2020, 5:30PM, Pacific Time

The Miró Quartet, one our most popular and beloved past Festival performers, will reunite and perform Beethoven’s complete cycle of 16 string quarters at the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival. These works, which will be streamed live, highlight Beethoven’s remarkable journey from relative novice, influenced by Haydn and Mozart, to the masterful composer whom we appreciate today. The year 2020 marks the composer’s 250th birthday.

Artistic director for the festival Aloysia Friedmann says, “I am incredibly grateful to the members of the Miró Quartet for accommodating their personal schedules to make these live online concerts possible.”

According to program information, the quartet will perform “from a private performance space modeled after Tuscan architecture in the quartet's home city of Austin, TX, and the video feed will be professionally produced in real time, with multiple camera angles and high-quality sound.” To see and hear a short sampling of the quartet, visit YouTube.

Tickets start at $20USD. For more information about this unique event and to buy tickets, visit the Orcas music festival’s website, or
