DID YOU KNOW? SMA & NY By Ken Morrow

In the mid-18th century the population of San Miguel el Grande, one of the most prosperous settlements in New Spain, was around 30,000.

In the first US census of 1790, the population of New York City, largest in the fledgling country, was 33,131. Today, with the population of San Miguel just twice its earlier size and New York at 137 times larger, it is our great fortune to have the annual San Miguel Chamber Music Festival bring to our own Angela Peralta theatre the same performers who grace the stage of Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.
